Hi! I’m Zoey. I work at Amazon SFAI developing the language model behind the Rufus assistant. I graduated as a Computer Science PhD from UIUC in 2024 advised by Prof. Jiawei Han. I’m very fortunate to be part of two generous families: the Data Mining Group and the BLENDER lab.
My current work focus is on data selection, scaling laws and evaluation for LM pretraining.
In my PhD years, I developed semi-supervised/weakly-supervised methods for information extraction (and this was in the NLP era of skip-gram word embeddings and BERT encoder models). Later on, I worked on knowledge editing, hallucination mitigation and continual learning.
